SCB13 Dry-Type Transformer Maintenance and Inspection Guide

Use condition-based intervals

There is no universal maintenance interval for every SCB13 installation. Inspection frequency should reflect load, dust, humidity, ventilation, switching events, temperature trends, site criticality and the manufacturer manual. Work must follow the owner isolation, lockout and verification procedure.

Routine operating review

  • Trend load, ambient temperature and winding-temperature indications together.
  • Investigate new noise, odour, discharge indications, fan alarms or unexpected temperature rise.
  • Check room ventilation, filters and housekeeping without approaching energized parts beyond the approved boundary.
  • Record alarms and operating events so they can be compared with later inspection findings.

Cleaning boundary

Use the method approved by the transformer manufacturer. Avoid introducing moisture, conductive residue, physical damage or uncontrolled compressed-air contamination. Do not treat a visually clean coil as proof that insulation condition is acceptable.

When to escalate

  • Rapid or unexplained temperature change at comparable load and ambient conditions.
  • Evidence of tracking, partial discharge, cracking, burning or terminal overheating.
  • Protection operation, repeated fan failure or loss of temperature channels.
  • Electrical test results that move materially from the established baseline.
  • Water ingress, severe contamination, impact or abnormal transport after installation.

Do not re-energize based only on this page. The owner and qualified engineer should define inspection, test and acceptance actions for the actual event.
