IEC Certification for Electrical Equipment: Complete Compliance Guide

Complete guide to IEC 60076 and IEC 62271 certification for transformers and switchgear. Covers KEMA, CESI type tests, ISO 9001, and country-specific requirements.

Why IEC Certification Matters

For EPC projects and international procurement, IEC certification is the global standard that validates product quality and safety. All Ziyao Power transformers comply with IEC 60076 series standards and switchgear with IEC 62271 series.

Key Certifications

  • IEC 60076: Power Transformers — covers insulation levels, temperature rise, short-circuit withstand, and efficiency
  • IEC 62271: High-Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear — covers design, testing, and performance
  • IEC 61439: Low-Voltage Switchgear Assemblies
  • ISO 9001: Quality Management System — ensures consistent manufacturing quality
  • ISO 14001: Environmental Management
  • ISO 45001: Occupational Health & Safety

Type Test vs Routine Test

Type tests are performed on representative samples at accredited labs (KEMA, CESI) and include lightning impulse, temperature rise, and short-circuit tests. Routine tests are performed on every unit and include winding resistance, ratio verification, dielectric tests, and no-load/load loss measurement.

Country-Specific Requirements

  • Nigeria: SONCAP certification required
  • Kenya: PVOC pre-export verification
  • Saudi Arabia: SASO/SABER certificate of conformity
  • UAE: ESMA compliance
  • Iraq: COC through Bureau Veritas or SGS

We provide complete documentation packages for customs clearance in all target markets.
