The cast resin process involves vacuum impregnation of the windings with epoxy resin, creating a solid insulation system that is moisture-resistant and has excellent thermal and mechanical properties. Yes, dry-type transformers require no routine maintenance like oil sampling or filtering. However, regular inspection of ventilation, connections, and temperature monitoring is recommended. The epoxy resin insulation does not degrade under normal operating conditions.
Standard dry-type transformers are designed for indoor use. For outdoor installation, they require weatherproof enclosures with proper ventilation (IP54 or higher). We recommend oil-immersed transformers for outdoor applications unless fire safety is a specific requirement.
