Application Scenarios

🏥 Hospitals

  • • Fire-safe operation required
  • • Critical power continuity
  • • Low noise level (<55dB)
  • • EMI-sensitive equipment nearby

Recommended: SCB18 with Class F insulation

🖥️ Data Centers

  • • 24/7 continuous operation
  • • High power density
  • • Low heat generation
  • • Space constraints

Recommended: SCB18 AN cooling

🏭 Industrial Facilities

  • • Heavy load cycles
  • • Dusty environments
  • • High ambient temperatures
  • • Chemical exposure risk

Recommended: SCB14 or SCB13

🏢 Commercial Buildings

  • • Office hours operation
  • • Limited space
  • • Aesthetic requirements
  • • HVAC integration

Recommended: SCB14 AN

Installation Requirements

1.

Clearances

Minimum 300mm from walls, 900mm from ceiling. Ensure adequate ventilation pathways.

2.

Room Temperature

Ambient temperature should not exceed 40°C (104°F). Optimal: 20-25°C.

3.

Ventilation

Provide 1m³/min airflow per kVA of transformer rating. Use intake and exhaust vents.

4.

Mounting

Level concrete floor or structural steel platform. Secure with vibration dampers if needed.

5.

Grounding

Connect transformer ground bar to main building ground. Comply with IEC 60364.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a dry-type transformer?

A dry-type transformer uses air cooling instead of oil. It's fire-safe, environmentally friendly, and suitable for indoor installation in buildings where fire safety is critical.

Q: What's the difference between SCB18, SCB14, and SCB13?

SCB18 is Class 1 energy efficiency (ultra-low loss), SCB14 is Class 2 (high efficiency), SCB13 is standard efficiency. Higher class = lower operating costs but higher initial price.

Q: Can dry-type transformers be used outdoors?

Dry-type transformers are primarily for indoor use. For outdoor applications, consider oil-immersed transformers or use weather-protected enclosures.

Q: What ventilation is required?

Adequate air circulation is essential. Maintain minimum clearances: 12" from walls, 36" from ceiling. Room temperature should not exceed 40°C.

Q: How often should maintenance be performed?

Annual inspection recommended: check connections, insulation resistance, and clean dust/debris. IEC 60076-11 specifies maintenance requirements.
